BLOG 4 - Themed - Free Post 1

Hello again class :) This is our fourth post! On this occasion, it is a free/themed topic! You can write about any topic you like or you feel inspired about it. I invite you to pick a career related topic though. I would love to read your experiences or any other aspects of your studies at the faculty/university and your projects as a future professional. Please include the following topics:

·        What is the topic selected?
·        Why did you choose it?
·        How is the topic relevant for you?
·        Anything pertinent you can add

Requirements for the entry:
For the present task, you need to write 140 to 145 words. Pay attention to misspellings, grammar errors and vocabulary. Do not forget to post three (3) comments on your classmate’s posts and one (1) on mine as well (25 words as a minimum!) Try to use the structures we have learned in previous lessons and all the English you know. DO NOT USE GOOGLE TRANSLATOR TO DO YOUR ENTRY. I truly encourage you to g for some WOW Words! (the WWP!) Give it a crack and good luck on your task! :)

Ever since I began my blogging journey I knew I would have to deal with some resistance from some of my students. Resistance perhaps they might think there is nothing interesting to write about or topics suggested could be dulling, or even writing doesn’t have a real effect on my learning process. On the other side, I knew I would encounter some motivated students, who will post chronologically their stories and follow faithfully their pal’s entries. This is how, a few days back, I came across Paige’s blog and a new light shone at the end of the tunnel.

Once I read her blog, I knew what could be done to change some views regarding the weekly blogging activities. It all starts by placing your focus on you, stopping for a minute and wondering ‘what can I get from my blogging experience at university?’ The answer is crystal clear to me: You will highly improve both performances (written and understanding) as undergraduate students and your skills as a professional once graduated.
But blogging is not all about writing carelessly; blogging could be turned into a powerful tool where you can exercise your writing skills, learn from others and share your views on a certain topic. Sharing your thoughts on a book chapter or a personal experience could help you to gain some insights that may help in the future. Maybe can come up with a debating space, where you can get a flow of opinions concerning a current issue. You won’t believe how your writing skills will grow as posts pass by!

As a language teacher, I would suggest such a space to everyone who would like to improve their language mastering (not just writing abilities). The experience of reading other opinions, thinking and rethinking the views (by using your very own style) will strongly prepare you to face any challenge that might come along in the future.

I think blogs help us a lot to learn new words and put in practice. Besides the fact that in this context blogs are one of the tools to know our classmates, so I really enjoy it.
